I had Machine Learnign Class at FRI some years ago and I'm also taking Stanford ML and AI classes now. While the content itself doesn't seem so different, the way it is presented is. The Stanford approach feels much more practical and action oriented. They seem to realize that the goal should not be to learn just formal academic theory but the knowledge that you'd be able to apply to some real-world problem some day. And that's what make all the difference.
